Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 cup snow peas, trimmed
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside to marinate for about 10 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the snow peas, mushrooms, and red pepper slices. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and add the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes to coat the beef and vegetables evenly.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve the Beef Stir Fry over a bed of cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

Slice the beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness. Don’t overcook the vegetables. They should be crisp and retain their vibrant colors. Feel free to customize the vegetables according to your preference.

You can add other favorites like baby corn, water chestnuts, or bamboo shoots. Serve this delicious stir fry with a side of steamed rice or noodles. You can also pair it with a fresh cucumber salad or a tangy Asian slaw for a refreshing contrast. Enjoy!
