- Prep Time: 20 minutes + 1 hour chill time
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes + chill time
- Yield: 6–8 slices 1x
Ingredients
For the crust:
- 1 1/2 cups crushed chocolate cookies (such as Oreos without filling)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the filling:
- 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the glaze:
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
For garnish:
- Fresh strawberries, sliced
- Fresh blueberries
- Chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the crust (10 minutes): In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed chocolate cookies and melted butter until well mixed. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of a greased bread pan. Place in the refrigerator to set while you prepare the filling.
- Make the filling (10 minutes): In a saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips, heavy cream, butter, and sugar. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the filling over the chilled crust and return to the refrigerator to chill until set, about 2-3 hours.
- Prepare the chocolate glaze (5 minutes): Place the chocolate chips and heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth. Allow to cool slightly, then pour over the set chocolate filling. Smooth with a spatula or back of a spoon.
- Garnish and chill (5 minutes + 1 hour): Arrange sliced strawberries and blueberries on top of the glaze in a decorative pattern. Add chopped nuts if using. Chill the tart in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the glaze to set.
- Slice and serve (5 minutes): Once fully set, remove the tart from the bread pan by lifting it out carefully using the edges of the greaseproof paper. To slice into triangles, cut the rectangular tart diagonally from corner to corner, creating triangular pieces.
Notes
This chocolate tart is as delicious as it is beautiful, offering a rich chocolate flavor with bursts of fresh berry sweetness.
The key to perfect slices is ensuring the tart is fully chilled and set before attempting to slice.
Use a hot knife (dipped in hot water and wiped dry) for clean cuts. This tart is ideal for special occasions or as an indulgent treat to enjoy any day of the week.
Enjoy your dessert!
