  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound beef steak (sirloin, flank, or ribeye), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups cooked white rice, preferably day-old
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the thinly sliced beef in teriyaki sauce for about 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. While the beef is marinating, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beaten eggs and scramble them until they’re just cooked. Transfer the scrambled eggs to a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil and stir-fry the broccoli and red bell pepper for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp. Add the thawed peas and stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes. Transfer the vegetables to the plate with the scrambled eggs.
  4. In the same skillet, cook the marinated beef over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes per side or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
  5. Once the beef is cooked, return the scrambled eggs and vegetables to the skillet. Add the cooked white rice and stir everything together, making sure the teriyaki sauce evenly coats all the ingredients.
  6. Serve the Beef Teriyaki Bowl in individual bowls or plates. Garnish each bowl with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for that perfect finishing touch.

Notes

For an extra kick of flavor, add a dash of crushed red pepper flakes to the teriyaki sauce before marinating the beef. Feel free to customize the vegetables according to your preference. Snow peas, carrots, or baby corn can also make delightful additions. Make sure to use day-old cooked rice as it’s less sticky and absorbs the flavors better during stir-frying. Drizzle some extra teriyaki sauce or a splash of soy sauce over the bowl before serving for an added burst of flavor. Enjoy!

Chef’s tip: If you don’t have day-old rice, cook rice fresh and then spread it out over a cookie tray to cool and dry out. You can also put it in the fridge for an hour or so before using.
