Let’s make this delicious and refreshing homemade cherry snow cone!
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 35 minutes
- Yield: 4 sevings 1x
Ingredients
For the cherry syrup:
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
For the snow cone:
- Crushed ice or ice cubes (about 4 cups)
- Fresh cherries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Make the cherry syrup (15 minutes): In a medium saucepan, combine the cherries, water, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the cherries are soft and the liquid has thickened slightly.
- Blend and strain the syrup (10 minutes): Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. Stir in the lemon juice and vanilla extract (if using). Let the syrup cool completely.
- Prepare the ice (5 minutes): If using ice cubes, crush them in a blender or food processor until you have a fine, snow-like consistency. Alternatively, you can use a snow cone machine if you have one.
- Assemble the snow cone (5 minutes): Fill snow cone cups or small bowls with the crushed ice, packing it down gently. Drizzle the cherry syrup generously over the top of the ice until well coated. Garnish with fresh cherries if desired.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve the homemade cherry snow cones immediately and enjoy this refreshing treat!
Notes
For an extra burst of flavor, you can add a splash of cherry liqueur to the syrup for an adult version of this treat.
