Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated. Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown, stirring occasionally for about 8-10 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and a splash of beef broth until smooth. Pour the flour mixture into the skillet with the onions and stir well to combine.
  5. Gradually pour in the remaining beef broth, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
  6. Return the beef patties to the skillet and spoon some of the onion gravy over each patty. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  7. Serve the Salisbury Steak hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.
