Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

For the dipping sauce:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, chopped cilantro, and chopped green onions.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and nicely browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sweet and sour dipping sauce by combining ketchup, rice vinegar, honey, soy sauce, grated ginger, red pepper flakes, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, serve them with toothpicks and the sweet and sour dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

Achieve the perfect level of spiciness by adjusting the amount of red pepper flakes in both the meatballs and the dipping sauce. Don’t overmix the meatball mixture to ensure a tender texture. For a slight twist, you can add a dash of lime juice to the dipping sauce. Feel free to serve these meatballs alongside steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy!
