Instructions

  1. Prepare the lime cups (15 minutes):
    • Cut the limes in half crosswise. Use a small knife or a spoon to carefully hollow out the insides, removing the pulp and juice (you can save the lime juice for another use).
    • Once hollowed, place the lime halves cut-side up in a muffin tin or on a small tray to keep them stable.
  2. Make the watermelon Jell-O (5 minutes + cooling):
    • In a bowl, dissolve the watermelon-flavored Jell-O in 1 cup of boiling water, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
    • Add 1 cup of cold water to the mixture and stir well.
    • Carefully pour the Jell-O mixture into the hollowed-out lime halves, filling them up to the top.
  3. Chill the Jell-O (3-4 hours):
    • Place the muffin tin or tray with the lime halves into the refrigerator. Chill until the Jell-O is firm, about 3-4 hours.
  4. Slice and garnish (10 minutes):
    • Once the Jell-O is set, remove the lime halves from the refrigerator. Carefully cut each lime half into two equal halves to create the appearance of watermelon slices.
    • Sprinkle black sesame seeds gently on the surface of each Jell-O bite to resemble watermelon seeds.
  5. Serve (2 minutes):
    • Arrange the watermelon Jell-O bites on a serving platter. They can be served immediately or kept in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
