  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pre-made flatbread or pizza dough
  • 23 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Handful of fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature recommended on the pre-made flatbread or pizza dough packaging.
  2. Place the flatbread or roll out the pizza dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone. If using dough, pre-bake it for a few minutes until it starts to firm up.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic and extra virgin olive oil. Brush the garlic-infused oil evenly over the flatbread or pizza dough.
  4. Arrange the tomato slices and mozzarella slices on top of the flatbread. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bake the flatbread in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.
  6. Remove the flatbread from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Drizzle a little more olive oil over the top for added flavor.

Notes

Opt for fresh, ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. If they’re not in season, you can use canned San Marzano tomatoes or cherry tomatoes for a burst of sweetness. Use fresh mozzarella for its creamy texture. Tear or slice the cheese and distribute it evenly across the flatbread for a gooey and melty result. Don’t be afraid to experiment with additional toppings. You can add a drizzle of balsamic glaze, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick, or even add some sliced olives for an extra burst of flavor. Enjoy!

Chef’s tip: Pair this delicious flatbread with a crisp white wine or a refreshing cocktail like a spritz for a complete Italian-inspired meal.
