Here’s a quick and delicious recipe for steak fajitas that my family and I constantly crave. The best part is that it can be made in 30 minutes or less! We’ll combine tender strips of steak with colorful bell peppers and onions for a flavorful and healthy dinner in no time. Let’s dive in!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Flour or corn tortillas, for serving
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, guacamole, salsa, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Season the steak strips with the spice mixture and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced peppers, onions, and garlic to the pan and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
  3. Push the vegetables to the sides of the pan and add the seasoned steak strips to the center. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked to your liking.
  4. Remove the pan from heat and serve the steak and vegetables in tortillas, with your desired toppings.

Notes

To make this recipe even quicker, I sometimes use pre-sliced peppers and onions or purchase pre-marinated steak strips. You can also prepare the spice mixture and slice the vegetables and steak ahead of time to save even more time. Enjoy your steak fajitas with your favorite toppings and a squeeze of lime juice for added flavor.
